Berryville High marching band sets summer practice schedule

Tuesday, July 20, 2021

The Berryville High School band is ready to kick it into high gear after a year of COVID-19 restrictions, says band director Doug Blevins.

Summer practice for the band will be held from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, July 26, and Tuesday, July 27, in the Fine Arts building on the middle school campus for pre-selected student leaders and the color guard.

The full band will report Aug. 2-6 and again Aug. 12-13 from 8 a.m. through 5 p.m. Lunch will be provided for the students who attend.

“We are excited to start preparations for this fall marching season,” Blevins said. “The halftime show this year will feature popular sea chanty music and is titled ‘Adventure on the high seas.’

“One exciting aspect of the half-time music for the fall is that it is written by composer Jeremy Doss from Rogers and will be published for other bands to play after this season is complete,” Blevins said.

The band is always looking for businesses to sponsor the halftime show for each game or to sponsor any of its three concerts throughout the year.
