From left to right, Act 309 inmate Jason Gilbert, Sgt. Corey Spain, Act 309 inmate Jason Emery and Capt. James Lookingbill pose with cabbage grown in the Carroll County Detention Center garden. The detention center doubled the size of the garden this year and focused on vegetables that will yield the best harvest, including cabbage and zucchini. The garden has yielded more than 1,000 heads of cabbage, saving $3,500 to $4,000 in food costs. Another 2,000 to 3,000 heads are expected to be harvested in the coming weeks.
