Worleys named county’s Farm Family of the Year
Freddie and Mitzi Worley were recently selected as the Carroll County Farm Family of the Year by Arkansas Farm Bureau.
The Worleys operate a cow/calf operation in and around Berryville and Green Forest, as well as a farm equipment rental service — Worley’s Rentals — and have been farming for 45 years.
They have two children, Ashley [Joe Don] and Brad [Allyson], and four granddaughters, Sadie, Sophia, Ada, and Adley.
Next month, the Worleys, along with the winners from each Arkansas county, will be visited by a set of judges to determine the eight district winners, who will be announced June 15. District winners will be visited again by a different set of judges in July to determine a state winner, which will be announced in December at the Farm Family of the Year luncheon in North Little Rock.
Since 1947, the Arkansas Farm Family of the Year program has served as a vehicle to recognize outstanding farm families throughout the state, a news release says. The objectives of the program are to give recognition and encouragement to farm families who are doing an outstanding job on their farm and in their community.
“Each year, the Arkansas Farm Family of the Year program recognizes the outstanding farmers and ranchers who make up our state,” said Arkansas Farm Bureau president Rich Hillman of Carlisle. “These families are involved in essential work, not only providing food for my family and yours, but also serving as the ultimate stewards of the land and water resources. We are proud to honor their work and dedication to Arkansas agriculture, our state’s largest economic sector.”
