Thomas takes top prize in HI Big Bass tourney

Hunter Thomas was the big winner at the Holiday Island Chamber of Commerce’s third annual Big Bass Tournament, pulling in a 4.85-pound lunker to win the $3,000 grand prize.

Mike Rose took second place with a 4.35-pound bass to win $1,000.

Thomas caught his winning fish between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. and took home an additional $300 for winning that time slot. Rose also caught his big fish during that time slot and won an additional $200.

Other time slot winners were Larry Jones (2.8 pounds) for 7 a.m. to 9 a.m., Ronnie Bell (3.65) for 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and John Siewert (4.0) for 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The third of six monthly Holiday Island Team Trail bass tournaments will be held Saturday, May 22, out of Holiday Island Marina.
