Bobcats’ bats are too much for Tigers

The Berryville Bobcats jumped out to an early lead and never trailed in an 11-1 victory over visiting Green Forest in high school baseball action Friday, April 23.

After holding Green Forest scoreless in the top of the first inning, the Bobcats took the lead for good on Chris Hipps’ RBI single that scored Tanner Rosales in the bottom of the inning.

Berryville made it 3-0 in the second on RBI singles by Rosales and Jarrett Stringer. Rosales drove in Dominic Henry, then came around to score on Stringer’s hit.

Green Forest scored its only run in the top of the third when Reiley Gordon’s RBI single brought home Barrett Phillips.

The Bobcats took firm control with five runs in the third inning. The first two runs scored on a pair of bases-loaded walks before Hipps and Stringer delivered back-to-back RBI singles. Rosales scored on a passed ball with two outs to push Berryville’s lead to 8-1.

Wesley Colbert added an RBI double and scored on a groundout in the bottom of the fifth to make it 10-1 and Henry stole home in the bottom of the sixth for the game’s final run.

Rosales, Hipps, Stringer, Colbert and Henry all had two hits for Berryville with Rosales, Hipps and Stringer driving in two runs apiece. Rosales and Henry each scored three times.

Hipps pitched a six-inning complete game, striking out 10 batters.

Berryville lost to Pea Ridge 5-0 on Thursday, while Green Forest lost 16-1 to Elkins on Monday, April 19.
