Lady Bobcats keep up power surge
The Berryville Lady Bobcats finished the regular season with a 12-6 home loss to Elkins on Friday, but that doesn’t mean there weren’t some offensive highlights for Berryville.
Senior LoraGrace Hill had three hits and two runs batted in for the Lady Bobcats, including a solo home run in the bottom of the first inning that tied the score at 1-1. It was Hill’s fifth home run in as many games to close out the regular season.
Elkins led just 8-6 after Berryville scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning on an RBI double by Krystal Hipps, who then scored on an error, and an RBI single by Hill.
But the Lady Elks scored four runs in the top of the seventh to push their lead to 12-6 and then retired Berryville in order in the bottom of the seventh to finish the victory.
Ava O’Gorek had two hits for the Lady Bobcats.
On Thursday, Berryville lost 8-3 at Pea Ridge. All of the Lady Bobcats’ runs scored on home runs: a solo shot by Faith Kelley in the fourth inning and a two-run drive by O’Gorek in the seventh.
Berryville will travel to Harrison to face the Lady Goblins in the first round of the district tournament at 5 p.m. Wednesday.
