BV soccer teams sweep Huntsville

After a shutout loss to Harrison on Tuesday, May 20, the Berryville Lady Bobcats needed something good to happen. And they got just what they needed.

Led by Lauren Compton’s hat trick, the Lady Bobcats rolled to a 7-0 win at Huntsville on Friday, April 23.

In addition to Lauren Compton’s three goals, Lilli Compton added a pair of goals on penalty kicks and the Lady Bobcats also got single goals from Mia Compton and Samantha Witherby. Lilli Compton and Sunny Tibbets each had two hits and Abby Blankenship also had an assist for Berryville.

“We just needed the win,” Berryville coach Aaron Hall said.

Berryville’s boys defeated Harrison 6-0 on Tuesday with sophomore David Tapia scoring three goals, while classmate Jesus Monroy added two. Another sophomore, Juan Perez, had a single goal for the Bobcats.

On Friday, Tapia recorded another hat trick and was matched by senior Freddy Roque with Monroy adding one goals in a 7-0 win over Huntsville. Berryville led 5-0 at halftime.

Both Berryville teams hosted Farmington on Monday. The district tournament is scheduled to begin Thursday.
