Softball: Elkins rallies to outslug Green Forest

The Green Forest Lady Tigers couldn’t make a big early lead hold up in a 13-8 loss to Elkins on Monday, April 19.

The Lady Tigers jumped ahead early with four runs in the first inning. Emma Taylor and Gracie Youngblood each hit two-run doubles. Taylor’s hit scored Leah Evans and Whitney Andreski, then she scored along with Maddie Youngblood on Gracie Youngblood’s double to right field.

Elkins responded with four runs in the bottom of the inning, however, then scored four more in the second and three in the third to take an 11-4 lead.

Taylor ripped another two-run double in the top of the fifth, again scoring Evans and Andreski.

Elkins answered with two runs in the bottom of the fifth for a 13-6 lead.

Green Forest scored its final two runs in the top of the seventh on a single by Katie Underdown to score Andreski and Taylor.

Taylor finished with four hits, four RBI and two runs scored. Evans had two hits and scored twice. Andreski scored three runs and Gracie Youngblood and Underdown each had two RBI for the Lady Tigers.
