YAC grants to be awarded at April 19 Grant Parade

Tuesday, April 13, 2021

Carroll County Community Foundation, an affiliate of Arkansas Community Foundation, will award its Youth Advisory Council (YAC) Giving Tree Grants during a socially distanced Grant Parade beginning at 5:30 p.m. Monday, April 19, at the Berryville City Park by the pool.

Local nonprofits receiving grants this year will line up in their cars a little before the 5:30 kickoff time. YAC student members, past YAC members, Carroll County Community Foundation Board members and residents are invited to join the festivities by lining the street and cheering on the heroes who are doing a tremendous job.

Now is the perfect time to let nonprofit leaders know that we appreciate their service to others and their support of our local citizens.

“The Community Foundation’s YAC program has given area students, representing all three public schools and home schools in the area, a chance to be compassionate towards others,” said local YAC adviser and Carroll County Community Foundation Board member Donna Hill. “As YAC members, they shared opportunities to learn about the nonprofit organizations in our county and volunteer at some of them. Their goal being awarding these grants from their own Youth Advisory Council Endowment. We hope this program has encouraged their commitment to philanthropy and continued service to Carroll County.”

“Since 2003, this YAC grant program has supported 59 different nonprofit programs that addressed issues affecting Carroll County youth and children with over $111,000 in grants,” said Janell Robertson, executive director of the Carroll County affiliate. “To celebrate this final year of our YAC program, we want to say a big thank you to all the students, the advisers, and especially the donors that make the grant-making possible. Our YAC Endowment will continue providing grants for nonprofits supporting youth and children in the future. This endowment, like all our other endowments, will grow and give back forever.”

Carroll County Community Foundation makes grants through its Giving Tree program twice a year in their spring and fall cycles. The next grant cycle will begin July 10, 2021.

“Our Giving Tree program helps Arkansans support a variety of important needs in their own hometowns,” said Heather Larkin, president and CEO of the Community Foundation. “Funding for our Giving Tree grants comes from local individuals and families who want to improve their community. We invest their donations in endowments that provide a permanent source of funding for local charitable causes.”
