Lady Bobcats top Prairie Grove before loss to Shiloh
The Berryville Lady Bobcats split a pair of games last week, beating Prairie Grove 3-0 at Bobcat Stadium on Tuesday, April 6, before losing on the road to Shiloh Christian, 2-1, on Thursday.
Against Prairie Grove, the Lady Bobcats had to play into a howling wind in the first half, but took a 2-0 lead on a penalty kick by Lauren Compton and a goal by Mia Thurman.
A red card left the Lady Bobcats one player short for the entire second half, but Berryville was able to hang on.
“Luckily that was a strong wind and we were going with the wind and we could just send long balls when we needed to,” Berryville coach Aaron Hall said. “And it’s hard to move the ball down the field into the wind.”
Sunny Tibbets gave Berryville some insurance with a long goal in the second half to make it 3-0.
In the loss to Shiloh Christian on Thursday in Springdale, Berryville committed an own goal that helped the Lady Saints get the win. The Lady Bobcats also had two goals wiped out because of penalties.
Lucy Reyes scored the only goal for Berryville.
Berryville will host Dardanelle in a nonconference game on Tuesday, then travel to Gentry for a conference game Friday.
