ES board approves phase two of elementary school remodel

The Eureka Springs school board held a special meeting Tuesday, June 2, to approve phase two of the elementary school remodel.
Phase two includes a renovated media center, renovated classrooms, renovated restrooms, new ceilings and flooring, new indoor paint, new front exterior paint and new metal panel.
Superintendent Bryan Pruitt said Modus Studio is the architect for the project.
“We hired Modus to do the design of the elementary,” Pruitt said. “Then Legacy Construction went through all the bids to make sure they’re all true and accurate.”
Pruitt said phase three of the project will be later on.
“Our cafeteria is so old and dated, so we’re looking at building a new kitchen with a cafeteria on each side,” Pruitt said. “So we’ll feed middle school on one side and elementary on the other from the same kitchen.”
Other upcoming projects include building a FEMA building and a safe room and renovating the track and soccer field.
The track project includes leveling up the infield of the track, moving the shot put and discus area from the middle to the side of the track and building a parking lot.
