Berryville School Board focuses on personnel at special meeting

The Berryville School Board made several personnel decisions at a special called meeting Tuesday, July 23.
The board unanimously voted to approve student transfers for the 2019-20 school year, then moved on to classified personnel. Tyler Ashworth moved to accept Anna Summers, Betty Smith, Gayla Swofford and Thresea Wallace as migrant employees and the board voted to do so. Kristi Howerton moved to hire Jamie Casey as a migrant employee pending approval from the Arkansas Department of Education. Everyone voted in favor of the motion except Ashworth who abstained.
During the certified personnel portion of the meeting, Howerton moved to accept the resignation of teacher and coach Daniel Fitts. The board unanimously voted to approve the resignation. Travis Gregory then moved to hire Chandra Davis as career development/business teacher, Ryan Whetham as head softball and assistant football coach and Brandon Skelton as assistant football and assistant baseball coach. The board voted unanimously to approve the hires.
The board’s next regular meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 26, in the Intermediate Cafetorium.
