BETTY JO GREEN, a resident of Berryville, Arkansas, was born December 4, 1954 in Natchez, Mississippi, a daughter of Amos and Clara Eugenia (Palmer) Newman. She departed this life Tuesday, January 26, 2016 in Rogers, Arkansas, at the age of 61 years.

Betty was a member of the First Baptist Church in Berryville. She was actively involved with the Berryville Band Booster and the Bobcat Athletic Booster Club. She was a former Girl Scout Troop Leader for many years. Betty loved music, singing, fishing and hunting. She had a huge heart for helping others and spent a lot of time fundraising for charities. She loved cooking for family and for the charities she worked with. She especially enjoyed watching her daughter and granddaughter compete in beauty pageants.

On June 8, 1979, Betty was united in marriage with Ricky L. Green, Sr., who survives her of the home. She is also survived by son, Glenn Kimball and wife Amanda of Huntsville, Arkansas; daughter, Valarie Shimandle and husband Tony of Berryville, Arkansas; son, Ricky Green Jr. of Berryville, Arkansas; son, Ryan Green and fiancÚ Katie Clark of Berryville, Arkansas; one brother, Eugene Newman and wife Glenell of Meadville, Mississippi; and six sisters, Ida Mae Coley & husband William of Natchez, Mississippi; Marilyn Liebig and husband Greg of Tullahoma, Tennessee; Carolyn Weathersby of Riceville, Tennessee and Sandra Stevens of Manchester, Tennessee; Elizabeth Jamison and Nancy Day both of Natchez, Mississippi; twelve grandchildren, Christian, Lexy, Anthony, Austin, Ashley, Destiny, Dalton, Brandon, Lawrence, Alice, Matthew and Gabriel; one great-grandchild, Mackenzie, and a host of nieces, nephews, other family, friends, and loved ones.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Amos and Clara Eugenia (Palmer) Newman; two sisters, Mary Lou Manley and Peggy Myers, two in-laws, Richard J. Green and Annette; and one niece, Shannon Jamison.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Sunday, January 31, 2016 at Charles M. Nelson Memorial Chapel, Berryville, Arkansas. Funeral service will be held 10:00 A.M. Monday, February 1, 2016 at Charles M. Nelson Memorial Chapel, Berryville, Arkansas with Reverend Jewel Vance officiating. Interment will follow the service in the Berryville Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Nelson Funeral Service.
