GF soccer teams ready for action
GREEN FOREST-- Weather has got the Green Forest soccer teams off to a slow start this year, but the Tigers and Lady Tigers will look to start the conference season on a winning note Tuesday against Dardanelle.
"We have been having to play a lot of different combinations of players this year," Green Forest Coach Bradley James said. "Mother Nature needs to corporate a little better with us."
James said he needs the weather to improve so the teams' chemistry can improve.
"Being in the gym because the field is wet, it gets to you because you can't have an effective practice," James said.
There are 14 Lady Tigers on this year's soccer team. James said a few of them are coming back from injury and it is important they are fully healthy and fit going into Tuesday's match.
"Before they get out there, they have to get out and get their running in so they will be in shape," James said.
The boys are the defending 4A state champions, but James is hesitant to say the Tigers will be in contention to repeat.
"On the boys team, we have three people returning," James said. "It is going to take a lot of communication and a lot of growing up, especially for our young guys. We are going to have to get going in the right direction pretty quick."
Even with the inexperience, James is confident the Tigers will be ready to play when they take the field Tuesday.
"We will hit the ground running next week and they will be ready to play," James said.
