Berean Coffeehouse opens with music and activites
Re-opening this week in a new location is the Berean Coffeehouse, a non profit outreach of Calvary Chapel of Eureka Springs.
Now situated in the old China Buffet building at 4032 E. Van Buren (U.S. Hwy. 62) near Passion Play Road, the coffeehouse is unique in that all the prices are suggested donations.
Calvary Chapels began in the 1960s in California during the Jesus People Movement when hippies were tuning to Jesus and getting baptized in the ocean by the thousands.
Service times are 7 p.m. Wednesday nights and 10 a.m. Sunday mornings. The church meets in the back of the coffeehouse and the coffeehouse will be open before and after service on Sundays.
There is plenty of room for spinners, home schoolers, meetings and even quiet corners for study -- wifi is available. Live music Friday nights will begin with folk duo Chase and Drew Friday, March 2, at 8 p.m., and Jazz with Neil Ogle is set for Friday, March 9.
There will also be a pool table available for free use to those who love to shoot pool. All prices are a suggested donation. The coffeehouse will also offer Italian sodas, 100 percent fruit smoothies, and pastries. Books and art are also available for a donation. All donations help support Rwandan, Haitian and Thai coffee villages, families in Asia, as well as keeping the coffeehouse up and running. It's a place where you can really drink coffee and do good!
The coffeehouse will also host Youth Nights every first Friday of the month beginning April 6. Music, activities and prizes will be geared toward junior high and high schoolers but every age is welcome.
Hours are Tuesday through Saturdays 7 a.m. to 1 p.m., and from 5 to 10 p.m. on Friday nights.
