Horace Levaughn George
Horace Levaughn George, a resident of Blue Eye, MO, was born January 8, 1928 in Big Flat, AR, a son of Dan and Rosa (Treat) George. He departed this life Sunday, April 3, 2011 at his home in Blue Eye, at the age of 83.
In his earlier years Horace worked in the timber and worked most of his adult life as a self-employed drywall contractor. He enjoyed listening to the boys play bluegrass music and spent most of his time cutting wood and pitching horseshoes with the Blue Eye Horseshoe Pitchers and surrounding areas.
He is survived by two sons, Jerry George and wife Nancy of Blue Eye, MO and Leslie George and wife Ann of Lampe, MO; two daughters, Crystal and husband Johnnie Rinker of Crane, MO and Leah and husband Richard Morgan of Oak Grove, AR; two sisters, Flossie and husband Setha Wilson of Harriet, AR and Jolene and husband Vic Waddel of Cotter, AR; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends and loved ones. He is also survived by a close friend, Annalea Tharp.
On November 11, 1950 Horace was united in marriage with Norma Lea Stephenson who preceded him in death. He was also preceded by his parents, Dan and Rosa George; one daughter, Tracy Lea George; one son, Dwight Nelson George; two brothers, Charles and Dewitt George; and two sisters, Fern and Bonnie.
Visitation will be held from 5 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at the Charles M. Nelson Memorial Chapel in Berryville. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at the Mt. Olivet Church in Blue Eye, MO. Interment will follow in the Blue Eye Cemetery under the direction of Nelson Funeral Service, Inc.
