WILLIAM BARNETT DOLLAR, 91, of Little Rock, died March 17, 2008. The son of William Madison and Eula Yarbrough Dollar, he was born in Centerpoint, Ala., on Dec. 27, 1916.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Martha Johnson Dollar; one sister, Adelaide Dollar Cason; three children, Linda Albritton and her husband Mac of Tuscaloosa, Ala., Sarah Elaine Dixon and her husband, Curtis of Little Rock, and Debbie Miner and her husband Roger of Eureka Springs; nine grandchildren, William Albritton, Matthew Albritton, Pressly Albritton, and Michael Albritton, Emily Blanchard, Rachael Blanchard, Madison Blanchard, Hailey Blanchard and Brooks Dixon; three great granddaughters, Violet Grace and Rose Margaret, and Stella Miller.

Mr. Dollar attended Centerpoint Elementary School. He graduated from Leeds High School. He attended Howard College and earned a bachelor of science degree in commerce and business administration from the University of Alabama in 1948.

He worked in the transportation industry during his long career. He began his career as an accountant for Alabama Hiway Express, later becoming its vice president. After retiring from Baggett Transportation, he enjoyed his role as transportation specialist with the Gene Raburn Agency until he retired completely from work at age 75.

He was a member of Canterbury United Methodist Church.

He and Martha moved to Holiday Island, the day after he retired in 1991 to be near grandchildren and to play golf. He enjoyed being with his grandchildren until the end of his life.

Memberships in Arkansas included Berryville United Methodist Church, First United Methodist Church of Eureka Springs, the Elks Lodge and Holiday Island Men s Golf Association.

Mr. Dollar served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

A memorial service was held at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral in Little Rock on Saturday, March 22.
