Rev. Stan Adams to assume Eureka UMC pulpit

The Rev. Stan Adams, most recenly of First United Methodist Church of Murfreesboro, will assume the pastorate at First United Methodist Church of Eureka Springs with his first sermon on Jan. 9.

He and his family will move to Eureka Springs on Dec. 28.

A native of Arkansas, Adams was born and reared in Paragould. He graduated from Greene County Tech High School in 1981, Hendrix College at Conway in 1984, and the Methodist Theological School in Ohio in 1991.

While in theological school he served a chaplaincy internship at Bethesda PsychHealth System in Denver, Colo., and a year-long internship at Wesley's Chapel in London, England. Since seminar he has served Arkansas United Methodist churches in Marion County, Mountain Home, and Berryville, as well as Murfreesboro.

His wife, Avis, is a certified occupational therapist, and hails from Jackson, Miss. They have two children, Will, 11, and Mara, 8.
