McNeely finds new job as GF mayor to be labor of love
Three months into his tenure as mayor of Green Forest, Don McNeely says he’s been particularly surprised by one aspect of his new position. “I love the job,” Mc-Neely said during an interview Thursday, March 30, in his office at City Hall.

Eureka Springs council discusses several topics
The Eureka Springs City Council took advantage of a light agenda to discuss a handful of items at its regular meeting Monday, March 27, at The Aud. The meeting included talks on sidewalks, police cars, fire department inspections and the city’s main website.

Freeman Heights Baptist Church held its 20th annual AWANA Pinewood derby race on Wednesday, March 15. There were many in attendance as the kids raced their homemade cars.

BHS Bobcat Drama is hard at work on its spring play production of Robert Harling’s Steel Magnolias. Though many are familiar with the 1989 film of the same title, the play came first, with its premiere in 1987 at the WPA Theatre in New York City. Later that same year it moved to an off-Broadway production at the Lortel Theatre. There would also be a 1989 production on London’s West End, and then in 2005, a Broadway production, starring Delta Burke as Truvy. In 2012, the play became a television film with an all African-American cast that included Queen Latifah and Phylicia Rashad.
