Tigers find their balance in opener

Green Forest coach Shane Compton expressed some concern before the season about where the Tigers would get consistent scoring.

Based on Friday night’s season-opening win over Lead Hill, the Tigers might have plenty of scoring options.

Four Green Forest players scored in double figures as the Tigers beat Lead Hill 52-49.

Senior forward Isaac Demeyer led Green Forest with 15 points while senior center Jordan McLoud added 14. Junior guards Ali Cabrera and Tony Gonzalez chipped in 11 and 10 points, respectively.

“If we can just continue that trend, I’ll be happy with that,” Compton said. “If we’ve got a threat from every position, that’s the best situation to have.”

Green Forest trailed by two points entering the third quarter.

McLoud also had 10 rebounds, four assists and three blocked shots for the Tigers.

Green Forest hosted Berryville on Monday night. The Tigers will be at home against Cotter on Friday, then will play Huntsville on Saturday in the Thanksgiving Classic at Bergman.
