Tigers’ offense stalls

The Green Forest Tigers’ offense seemed to take a step forward in a victory over Gravette on Oct. 22.

Last Friday night’s performance against Huntsville, however, was more like two steps back.

The Eagles scored 17 first-half points and then held on for a 17-8 victory at Tiger Stadium.

“We just kind of hit repeat on the old tape recorder,” Tigers coach Greg Tibbitt said. “We just struggled offensively, couldn’t get anything consistently going.”

Green Forest (2-6, 1-5 4A-1) scored its only touchdown when senior linebacker Bryan Soto blocked a punt and classmate Jazmany Lopez recovered it in the end zone. Joel Salgado ran for the two-point conversion.

“Once again, I feel like the defense played well enough for us to win the game and we just couldn’t put points on the board.”

Green Forest will host Berryville in the annual Carroll County Super Bowl on Friday to finish the season.
