BHS marching band earns top honors

The Berryville High School Band participated in the 29th Annual Dale Bumpers Marching Invitational held on the campus of Charleston High School on Saturday, Oct. 2.

The band was scored on its music performance, marching ability and overall effect of their competition show. The band also received comments and scores for percussion, color guard and drum major.

The band received a score of 83.45, which earned it a superior first division rating overall. The band also earned superior ratings for color guard and drum major.

The Bobcat percussion section was awarded an excellent rating. The band earned fifth place overall in the competition with 17 other Arkansas bands competing. The first place band was Russellville High School, earning a 94.1.

“This is a huge win to start the band’s competition season for students who haven’t been able to compete in over a year,” said band director Doug Blevins.
