The Green Forest Schools EAST Program held EAST Night Out, an open house for the EAST program, on Monday, Sept. 20.

During EAST Night Out, students presented their projects in a convention-style format. Parents, faculty and community members were encouraged to attend the open house at their convenience while enjoying refreshments provided by the program.

Many student groups presented their projects this year and most of the groups met with their community partners to start planning further planning on their projects.

“This is the most productive and best EAST Night Out I have seen in eight years of being the facilitator,” EAST facilitator Jon Taylor said. “This shows the direction we are going and the new standards for the EAST program going forward.”

School board members from Green Forest were also able to drop by the booths during their mid-meeting recess, giving students the opportunity to show board members their plans as well.

This helped the students practice their “soft skills” by presenting to persons above their peer group and gave the school board insight into the program.
