Green Forest runners shine in Bobcat Back 40

Green Forest junior Alonzo Rangel took third place among Class 1A-3A boys in the Bobcat Back 40 cross country meet on Saturday at the Carroll County Fairgrounds.

Alonzo Rangel covered the 5,000-meter course in a time of 17 minutes, 20.63 seconds. Senior teammate Paco Rangel took eighth place in 17:41.04 and freshman Eric Salazar was 10th in 18:13.11 as Green Forest took second place in the 1A-3A boys team standings.

On the girls side, Green Forest senior Samantha Delavin finished 10th in the 1A-3A division with a time of 24:54.46. Senior Marianna Beltran was 14th in 25:41.33.

Eureka Springs junior Jayden Urioste finished 19th among 1A-3A boys in 19:10.36.

In Class 4A-5A boys, Berryville senior Cole Price was the Bobcats’ top runner, finishing 22nd in 20:53.72. Berryville finished fourth in the team standings. Senior Robby Bartos was 25th in 21:05.61.

Lady Bobcats senior Lucy Reyes finished 25th among 4A-5A girls in 26:07.95.
