Lady Bobcats split 2 matches
With just three seniors on the roster and a slew of sophomores seeing significant playing time, Berryville volleyball coach Kristin Whetham knows her team may take its lumps this season. The payoff, of course, could come over the next couple of years.
With that in mind, Whetham is keeping her perspective after the Lady Bobcats lost a conference match in four sets at Pea Ridge on Tuesday, Sept. 21. The loss came one day after Berryville went to Green Forest and swept the Lady Tigers in three sets.
“We played all right,” Whetham said. “We did what we do. You can’t ask these girls to play any harder. They’re giving me everything they’ve got. We’re playing against some kids that are just a little bit better right now and a little bit older. They have a lot more experience.”
Senior Faith Kelley had 15 kills in the two matches while classmate Madison Beck added 11 and sophomore Marissa Richter had 11.
Berryville played at Gentry on Monday. The Lady Bobcats will host Harrison on Tuesday before traveling to Prairie Grove on Thursday.
