Baseball: Tigers fall short in slugfest

The Green Forest Tigers came up just short in a slugfest with the Bergman Panthers in the first game of a doubleheader on Monday, March 29.

The Panthers scored twice in the bottom of the sixth inning to break a tie, then held Green Forest scoreless in the top of the seventh for a 16-14 victory.

Green Forestís Alex Kilbourn drove in five runs, hammering a three-run triple to left field in the second inning and adding a two-run single in the sixth, when the Tigers scored four runs to tie the score at 14-14.

Barrett Phillips had four hits for Green Forest, scoring three runs and driving in one. Isaac DeMeyer added three hits and two runs scored. Reiley Gordon had one hit and scored three times while Dalton Randolph had two hits, drove in two runs and scored once.

Braedyn Gillam added two hits for the Tigers.

Bergman won the second game 21-4, holding the Tigers to five hits.
