Postseason honors roll in for Bobcats

Tuesday, March 16, 2021

The Berryville Bobcats placed all five of their starters — Nate Allen, Landon Chester, J.D. Smith, Weston Teague and Jake Wilson — on the 4A-1 All-Conference team, coach Brent Compton said, while Chester and Teague also earned All-State recognition.

Compton was named the 4A-1 Coach of the Year after the Bobcats won the 4A-1 East championship and finished second in the district tournament.

Allen and Wilson are sophomores, while Teague is a junior and Chester and Smith are seniors.

Compton said it was the first time Berryville has had so many all-conference selections.

“They’re all deserving,” Compton said. “Our kids shared the ball and I couldn’t imagine giving it to one or two and not all of them.”

Berryville had also never had two all-state selections in the same year.

“We’ve had some some really good players, but we never have been able to get two-staters on there off one team,” Compton said. “It just says a lot about these kids.
