Act 56 Award

The Berryville School District was recently selected by the Arkansas Governor’s Advisory Council for Gifted and Talented Education to receive the Act 56 Award of $3,000 for an Outstanding Gifted Program in districts with between 1,001 and 3,000 students. Accepting the award are teachers Delene McCoy (left), the gifted and talented teacher and AP coordinator for grades 6-12, and gifted and talented coordinator Larissa Allen. The district was recognized during the Arkansans for Gifted and Talented Education’s virtual spring conference on Feb. 25. In addition, McCoy and Allen — along with gifted and talented instructors across the state — were recognized with the Challenger Award, presented in honor of their “innovation, perserverance, and commitment” in meeting the needs of gifted and talented students during the 2020-2021 scchool year, both on campus and online.
