3 local men arrested in 2018 killing
Three Carroll County men were arrested Monday in connection with the murder of a Eureka Springs man exactly three years earlier.
According to a news release from the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, the Arkansas State Police in concert with the sheriff’s office served the three arrest warrants in connection with the 2018 murder of Christopher Alvard.
An ASP release says Alvard, 37, and his dog were stabbed to death on Feb. 8, 2018, at Alvard’s home west of Eureka Springs.
The three men arrested Monday were Joshua Lloyd Anderson, 41, and Charles Ky Hanna, 32, both of Berryville, and Jason Hartley Helm, 35, of Holiday Island.
Intake documents from the Carroll County Detention Center in Berryville indicate that all three men face charges including first-degree murder and cruelty to animals. Helm was already in the county jail on a charge of aggravated assault.
“These arrests came after a three-year investigation involving hundreds of investigative hours,” the CCSO news release said. “The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office and Arkansas State Police are extremely pleased to finally bring this case to court and ultimately provide closure to the family.”
Alvard was found deadinside a residence at 674 Carroll County Road 116 near Eureka Springs by CCSO deputies who were dispatched to check on an open door.
The sheriff’s office requested assistance from the state police at the time of the murder and special agents from the ASP’s Criminal Investigation Team were assigned to the case.
“At this time, Sheriff Ross will not comment further on the upcoming posture of the case (nor has the Sheriff authorized anyone at this agency to comment further),” CCSO Chief Deputy Maj. Jerry Williams said in an email Monday.
