Peggy Jean “Jones” Summers of Branson, Missouri, was born April 9, 1948 in Berryville, Arkansas to Earl and Joyce (McMorris) Jones. Peggy passed away Thursday, December 24, 2020 in Springfield, Missouri at the age of 72.
Peggy loved reading and watching movies/tv. Peggy had many different careers in her life, but she was most proud of being a mother and nana. She loved to spend time with her family and grandkids, Kate and Alyvia, and enjoyed watching them play golf.
Peggy graduated from Green Forest High School in 1966. She represented Green Forest when she won Miss Carroll County in 1965 and Miss Arkansas in the Miss USA pageant in 1966.
She will be missed and is loved by many. Everyone that she met she turned into her family. She was a very special lady.
Peggy is survived by her son Joseph “Todd” Summers of Branson, Missouri; daughter Hayley Burr and husband Mark of Bloomington, Illinois; grandchildren Kate and Alyvia Burr; brother Jimmy Jones and wife Sherry of Pea Ridge, Arkansas; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents Earl and Joyce “McMorris” Jones; brother Don Jones.
A Graveside Service will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at the Glenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial college fund has been set up for her grandkids as they will graduate this year. Peggy wanted more than anything to help them go to college.
