Berryville City Council transfers property to library

The Berryville Public Library now officially owns a piece of land on Springfield Street for its new building.
The Berryville City Council voted to transfer the property deed to the library for $10 at its meeting Tuesday, Nov. 3.
If a new library is not built on the property by Dec. 31, 2025, the land will revert back to the city’s ownership.
Administrative assistant Jay Lee said the Saunders Museum will be open through Saturday, Nov. 21.
“Usually they would be closed before then,” Lee said. “The reason is the grant we got for the museum earlier this year — part of the share of our side of the grant is payroll expense, so we need that amount of time to get our payroll expense to the right amount.”
The Berryville City Council’s next regular meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 17, at the Berryville Community Center.
