Dixie Marie Evans of Berryville, Arkansas was born June 4, 1935 in Metalton, Arkansas to Reverend William H. and Cleta (Whitely) Armstrong. Dixie passed on to her Heavenly forever home on Wednesday, October 14,2020.
Dixie was a member of Freeman Heights Baptist Church. She was an avid walker, gardener and bird watcher.
She is survived by her sister Mildred Hokett of Berryville, Arkansas; sons Steve High of Lees Summit, Missouri, Randy High of Normal, Illinois; daughter Niesje Bartlett of Longmont, Colorado; five grandchildren Janae Cooprider, Kimberlee Johnson both of OFallon, Illinois, Mathieu Bartlett of Frederick Colorado, Nash and Katrina High of Raytown, Missouri; five great grandchildren Gabriel Lockwood, Paige Cooprider, Patriot and Samantha Johnson, and Jack Bartlett; nieces and nephews Pam Doving, Diane Wilson, Jennifer Ross, Mike Armstrong, Ricky Armstrong.
She is preceded in death by her parents Rev. William H. Armstrong and Cleta Armstrong; brother Bill Armstrong; husband LeRoy Evans; nephew Sammy Hokett; niece Sandy Armstrong.
Dixie did not want a funeral, memorial, or visitation. She wanted a quick, private burial near her mother, Cleta Armstrong, at Dean Cemetery. She would have wished her friends and family to go to lunch or coffee together and celebrate her life with laughter and joy. Dixie would have liked for each of us to help our neighbors- not to ask "if I can help", but to ask and say, "how and when can I help? I want to help".
Per Dixie’s request memorial donations may be made to Gideon’s International, PO Box 362, Berryville, AR 72616. Arrangements are under the direction of Nelson Funeral Service. Online condolences may be sent to the family at nelsonfuneral.com.
