City inspector leaving job after 25 years

Berryville city inspector Carl Goins is leaving the position after more than 25 years. His last day of work for the city will be Tuesday, Sept. 29.
Goins said he has decided to take another job in construction management based in Green Forest.
“He’s done a good job for 25 years and I wish him luck,” Mayor Tim McKinney said. “He’s very knowledgable, and he has a good relationship with the builders here locally.”
Goins said he’s from Berryville, and he likes the quiet atmosphere of Carroll County and knowing everybody around him.
“The last 25 years have been great, but it’s just time for me to try something different,” Goins said. “The city has been great, the mayor’s been great to work for. But it’s a lot of work.”
McKinney said the city has not yet found a replacement for Goins.
“In the past, we’ve worked for Green Forest when they were without an inspector, and they’ve helped us, too, in the past,” McKinney said. “If we don’t get anybody hired by the 29th, I’m sure there will be somebody available to do it while we wait for the right person.”
