Community center to reopen next week
The Berryville Community Center will reopen at 8 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8, the city parks department announced Monday.
The center will modify its hours and will be open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday. The center will be closed from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. each day for sanitizing purposes.
Memberships will be extended as if no time had expired.
“The BCC closed six long months ago,” the parks department said in a news release. “We recognize the difficulty this has posed for our many members, and we appreciate their patience. We have missed them and their sweaty faces, too!”
The center will make some operational changes to ensure the safety of all its patrons, the release says.
Temperature checks will be taken upon entry into the building. Individuals s with a temperature of 100.4 degrees or higher will not be allowed to remain in the building.
Members checking in will swipe their membership card, tell the front-desk personnel their membership ID number, or the staff will look up the membership ID number. Key pads will not be available.
Classes will not be held through the month of September. Resumption of classes will be assessed for October.
Meeting Room, Banquet Hall or Pool Party rentals will not be available through the month of September. Resumption of rentals will be assessed for October.
The center’s modified pool schedule can be viewed at bcc.berryville.com.
The gymnasium will be Open Gym only; no classes or leagues at this time.
Masks will be required to enter the building. Masks may be removed while actively exercising but must be worn at all other times.
BCC staff may need to limit the number of people in a given area.
“We require all patrons to practice physical distancing and maintain good hand-washing and sanitizing practices,” the release says. “For our members convenience and safety, hand-sanitizing stations are now located throughout the building.”
During the closure, community center staff gave the center a “facelift.”
“Going forward, our team is excited for a re-energized, clean and improved BCC,” the release says. “We feel certain members will see a positive difference.
“The BCC Staff looks forward to seeing you soon.”
