IPFD Auxiliary to hold Fire Safety Day

Friday, March 13, 2020

Inspiration Point Fire Department Auxiliary will be host a child- and family-friendly Fire Safety Day from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 28, at the KOA Campground, located at 15020 Highway 187, about five miles west of Eureka Springs.

The afternoon will feature hands-on tours of a fire engine and ambulance. The Eureka Springs Fire Department will be providing the ambulance and will also have on hand their “smoke house.”

This is a small trailer that can be filled with “smoke” (really a non-toxic fog) so kids and parents can learn the proper way to get out of a smoke-filled room (get down on the floor and crawl).

There will be ample opportunity to try on a firefighter’s turn-out or bunker gear and a CPR mannequin will be available to try out hands-only CPR.

Other fire safety-related games will also be available.

“We will have several of our firefighters on hand to demonstrate the gear and equipment. This should be a really fun day for anyone in the community: kids, parents, anyone who is curious about what we do for our Inspiration Point community – or firefighting in general,” said Chris Camp, IPFD Auxiliary President.

A lunch of a hot dog, chips, cookie and a drink will be provided free to kids under 12 and $4 for adults.

Everyone, whether residing in the Inspiration Point District or not, is invited to attend.
