The Berryville girls soccer team split its first two matches of the season, defeating Eureka Springs 6-1 on Monday before losing 4-0 at Harrison on Tuesday.
Berryville led 4-0 at halftime in Monday’s game against Eureka Springs, then tacked on two more goals in the first two minutes of the second half.
Mia Thurman, Sunny Tibbet, Lilli Compton, Taylor Swofford and Shely Newby all had goals for Berryville, which led 6-0 before a late goal by Eureka Springs.
Against Harrison, the defending Class 4A state champion, Berryville trailed 1-0 at halftime.
“I thought we played real well the first half,” Berryville coach Aaron Hall said, adding that Harrison scored its only first-half goal while Berryville’s starting goalkeeper as out of the game briefly.
“We competed real well all game long,” Hall said. “On all their goals, they were really nice execution by them but we made a lot of mistakes to let them get shots. Hopefully, we can fix some of those things.”
Berryville will host Green Forest on Monday.
