CAPC approves pay increase for interim director

Gina Rambo, newly appointed interim director of the Eureka Springs City Advertising and Promotion Commission, will be paid an additional $10 an hour for her additional duties.

The commission voted unanimously at its regular meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 26, to approve the additional pay for Rambo.

At a special called meeting two days earlier, the commission voted 4-3 to appoint Rambo to the interim position. The move comes after former executive director Lacey Ekberg was placed on a 90-day agreement as an independent contractor. Ekberg was officially laid off as a full-time city employee. The commission will pay Ekberg $7,500 a month under the new agreement, with a review after the initial 90-day term.

Also at the Feb. 26 meeting, finance director Rick Bright distributed information on January collections from the 3 percent sales tax that funds the commission. The collections are based on the previous month’s activity for businesses that collect the tax.

Altogether, collections increased 28.3 percent from the previous year — from $67,305 in January 2019 to $86,340.75 in January 2020.
