Berryville coach Daniel Cornelison says the Lady Bobcats are a better basketball team when Lilli Compton is shooting well.

Based on that, the Lady Bobcats were a pretty good team Friday night in Springdale.

Compton, Berryville’s junior point guard, made six three-pointers and scored 22 points as the Lady Bobcats ran away from Shiloh Christian for a 49-23 victory.

“She shot the ball really well,” Cornelison said of Compton. “We just stuck with the game plan and kind of built the lead. We definitely just grinded out a win on the road. We’ll take it.”

Shiloh Christian made just three shots from the field as Berryville took a 23-9 halftime lead.

Cornelison said the Lady Bobcats (14-4, 3-1 4A-1) will need to continue playing effective defense this week, when they travel to Farmington on Tuesday and host Pea Ridge on Friday night at Bobcat Arena.

Farmington (17-3, 4-0) is tied for the conference lead. The Lady Cardinals haven’t lost to a Class 4A team this season.

Pea Ridge (15-4, 2-3) lost to Farmington by one point in double overtime at home earlier this month. Berryville beat Pea Ridge 49-44 in a grueling, physical game for the championship of Green Forest’s Queens of the Court tournament on Nov. 16.

“It starts with us being able to defend,” Cornelison said. “Farmington and Pea Ridge are really good.”
