Bobcats collect 5th consecutive win
By Scott Loftis
Make that five in a row for the Berryville Bobcats.
The Bobcats continued their winning streak with a 63-41 victory over Hillcrest High School on Tuesday, Dec. 17, in Springfield, Mo.
Berryville trailed 22-19 at halftime after scoring just four points in the second quarter, but took firm control with a 26-point outburst in the third quarter.
We played decent the second half for sure, Berryville coach Brent Compton said. We came out pretty strong in the first quarter. The second quarter, they changed defenses us on and took us out of sync.
The Bobcats got their rhythm back in the third quarter thanks in large part to the shooting of junior guard Landon Chester, who dropped in four three-pointers in the quarter on the way to a game-high 22 points.
By the time the smoke cleared, Berryville led 45-30.
Chester led four Berryville players in double figures. Sophomore guard Kade Davidson and senior forward Scotland Lucas added 13 points apiece and sophomore center Weston Teague had 10.
Lucas recently returned to practice after recovering from a knee injury that caused him to miss all of football season. His presence adds another scoring threat for an already deep Berryville offense.
I really think we can rotate seven or eight guys that can put the ball in the basket, Compton said.
