Flippin takes two from Eureka Springs

A slow start was too much for the Eureka Springs Lady Highlanders to overcome against Flippin on Friday night in a 2A-1 conference game.

The Lady Highlanders scored just four points in the first quarter and went on to a 41-36 loss.

Senior forward Shelby Little scored 15 points to lead Eureka Springs. Senior guard Gracie Lester added nine points and senior forward Megan Holloway had eight for the Lady Highlanders (5-10, 1-1 2A-1).

Boys

Flippin’s Dale Smyser scored 27 points to lead the Bobcats to a 57-40 victory over Eureka Springs.

Sophomore guard Matthew Lester made three three-pointers and scored 23 points for the Highlanders (3-9, 0-2 3A-1), who trailed 26-21 at halftime and 37-29 after three quarters.

Eureka Springs was scheduled to play at Green Forest on Monday, but the games were canceled because of threatening weather.

Both Eureka Springs will return to action on Friday, Jan. 3, traveling to Mountainburg.
