James Kelly Thomas was born September 25, 1958 in Denver, Colorado to James Kenneth Thomas and Dorris Maxine (Lindahl) Pangburn. James passed away December 15, 2019 at the age of 61.
He loved his family and if you were lucky enough for him to call you a friend, it was for life. His favorite place was the outdoors. He adored camping, hunting, fishing, and spending time with his countless animals over the years. Jamesí love for animals was very apparent during his rodeo years. He excelled at saddle bronc and bull riding. He was awarded many belt buckles, numerous trophies, and an All-Around saddle. At the age of 22 he had reached 3rd in the world in saddle bronc riding.
Throughout his life, James was a member of the Boy Scouts of America, National Little Britches Rodeo Association, and the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association.
Survivors include his life partner Laura Neal of Alpena, Arkansas; father James K Thomas of Alpena, Arkansas; mother Dorris Pangburn and husband David of Lake Oswego, Oregon; sisters Linda Brady of Othello, Washington and Kristen Downey of Lake Oswego, Oregon; nieces Melissa Farris of Moses Lake, Washington, Erica Brady of Othello, Washington, Josephine Downey of Lake Oswego, Oregon; nephew Breandan Downey of Lake Oswego, Oregan; several great nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents; several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
