The Eureka Springs Lady Highlanders, coming off a 2A-1 conference championship and a regional tournament appearance in coach Ryan Sanchez’s debut season a year ago, got off to a slow start this season.

But as conference play begins, the Lady Highlanders expect to contend for another title. They took the first step on Dec. 10 with a 38-25 victory road victory over Yellville-Summit.

“It was a big win to start off conference play,” Sanchez said. “I still feel like we struggled. We did fine two or three feet from the basket, but we didn’t shoot well outside of that.”

The senior post tandem of Megan Holloway and Shelby Little provided the offensive firepower for the Lady Highlanders (5-9.) Holloway had 17 points and Little added 12 for Eureka Springs.
