Marvin W. (Marv) Shepard died peacefully Monday, November 4, 2019 at Circle of Life Hospice, at Legacy Village in Bentonville, AR after a 3-l/2 year battle with cancer. Marv was born September 13, 1934 to parents Harley and Margaret (Maybon) Shepard in Edison, Nebraska. Marv was preceded in death by his parents and his “Old English Sheepdog Fur Babies” Alfred, Reginald and Theodore who held a very special place in his heart.
Upon graduation from high school in Cheyenne, Wyoming, Marv proudly served his country in the Navy on the “USS Bon Homme Richard” aircraft carrier. Thereafter, he attended the University of Wyoming earning his B.S. Degree in Business Administration and became a devoted member of the Alpha Kappa Psi business fraternity. Marv was an avid scuba diver. He achieved his PADI Divemaster certification and traveled the world diving in exotic places. After retiring from the Bell Telephone Systems with 33 years of service, he began his underwater video business in the Caribbean. In 1993 Marv & his wife moved from Colorado to Eureka Springs, AR where they owned and operated “The Brownstone Inn” Bed & Breakfast for many years. Later, he obtained his realtor license and joined Century 21 Woodland Real Estate. He was active in the community and cherished all of the friendships he made along the way. After moving to Pea Ridge, Arkansas, he continued his real estate career and then began a new career with The Lyle Company, a partner of American Tower Corporation, as an Independent Lease Consultant and remained employed and active until a month before he passed.
Marvin is survived by his wife of 38 years, Donna; brother, Donald E. Shepard, Cheyenne, Wyoming; daughter, Robi Diane (Mark) Chalmers, Australia; 2 granddaughters, Devan (Joshua) Lockwood, Australia; Casie Chalmers, Australia; 2 nephews, 1 niece and many, many friends.
A celebration of life will be held at a future date. Memorial contributions may be made in Marvin’s name to the Good Shepherd Humane Society, Eureka Springs, AR, Circle of Life Hospice at Legacy Village, Bentonville, AR or to the charity of choice.
