Junior Bobcats hold off GF in final seconds

The Berryville and Green Forest junior high football teams played a game worthy of their rivalry on Thursday, Sept. 26.
Berryville stopped a Green Forest two-point conversion attempt with 13 seconds left to hang on for an 8-6 victory at Bobcat Stadium.
Berryville quarterback Chris Hipps ran for a touchdown and running back David Tapia added a two-point conversion run to put the Bobcats ahead 8-0.
Berryville held the ball for most of the game but fumbled twice deep in Green Forest territory. The last fumble, with 1:20 remaining, set up the Junior Tigers’ late touchdown.
“We held them pretty much the entire game,” Berryville coach Derrek Aynes said. “Then we turned it over on their end of the field. They hit about a 60-yard pass and went down and scored.”
Green Forest quarterback Isiah Fraga threw a touchdown pass to Dan Stark to cut Berryville’s lead to 8-6, but the Junior Bobcats knocked away a two-point conversion pass that would have tied the game.
“The defensive back just got it by his fingertips,” said Green Forest coach Daniel Fitts.
Berryville (1-3) will host Pea Ridge this week while Green Forest (1-2) travels to Huntsville.
