Lady Tigers top Bergman, fall to Cotter

The Green Forest volleyball team won its sixth consecutive match on Thursday, Sept. 12, then suffered its first loss of the season Monday night.
Green Forest topped Bergman in four sets Thursday, winning 23-25, 25-13, 30-28, 25-16.
“It wasn’t as easy as we thought, but we pulled it together and pulled it out,” Green Forest coach Christie Popejoy said. “We finally put it together.”
Senior Alissa Smith had 11 kills for the Lady Tigers while juniors Magen Parton and Maddie Youngblood added eight and seven, respectively. Senior Kiara Taylor had five aces, with Parton adding four. Senior Kendall DeMeyer had three aces. Senior Skylar Howerton had three blocks.
Speaking Monday afternoon, Popejoy said she expected a challenging week with matches at home against Cotter on Monday, at Clinton on Tuesday and at Perryville on Thursday.
“This week is the test,” she said.
Cotter defeated Green Forest in three sets Monday. The Lady Warriors won 25-13, 27-25, 25-15.
