Robert D Paulus, of Berryville, Arkansas, was born June 12, 1936, in Wellston, Michigan, to Ben and Elsie (Somsel) Paulus. He passed away September 8, 2019 in Harrison at the age of 83.
Robert is survived by one son Craig Paulus and wife Sarah of Chugiak, Alaska; two daughters Kindy Pool and partner Eric Noel of Portland, Oregon, Andrea Paulus and husband Tom Tobey of San Diego, California; two sisters Wanda Brewster of Lyons, Kansas, Linda Asiala and husband Ray of Traverse City, Michigan; two grandchildren Ashley and Wyatt Paulus; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents Ben and Elsie Paulus, wife Karol Paulus, and brother Ben Paulus.
Robert was born and raised in Michigan where he earned a Masterís Degree in Fisheries Biology from Central Michigan University. He moved to Alaska in 1962 where he met his first wife, Gwen, and raised their three children. He lived in Alaska for 38 years, working as a research biologist for the Alaska Department of Fish & Game, followed by a career in commercial fishing. He was a skilled wood carver who loved to create whimsical animal and human figurines. He also loved hunting, fishing, baking and gardening.
