Tice is featured speaker for Berryville chamber banquet
Tommy Tice, who coached Brandon Burlsworth at Harrison High School, will be the featured speaker at The Greater Berryville Area Chamber of Commerce Awards Banquet, to be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10 at the Berryville Community Center.
The theme of this year’s awards banquet is “Celebrating Success.”
Tice, who spent five decades as a coach and/or athletic director at area school districts, will speak on behalf of the Brandon Burlsworth Foundation in Harrison. Tice will share his thoughts on teamwork, setting goals, celebrating success, sportsmanship and leadership on and off the field.
Tice retired from coaching in 2016 as the second most winningest coach at that time in Arkansas history. His final win/loss record was 289-160-6. He retired as athletic director at Huntsville High School earlier this year.
“We are proud to announce him as our featured speaker, and we know you’ll enjoy his unique perspective as Coach Tice shares his memories of nearly 50 years coaching student athletes, as well as the Brandon Burlsworth Foundation’s mission to support the physical and spiritual needs of children, in particular those who have limited opportunities,” the chamber said in a news release. “The foundation encourages a strong faith, character and sportsmanship, developing positive values, and a life pattern that would exemplify ‘Doing It The Burls Way.’ ”
