Community Orchestra rehearsals begin Sept. 23

Friday, September 6, 2019

The Carroll County Community Orchestra is preparing to begin its 17th season of serving Carroll County adults and students with the opportunity to join together and create music weekly and present concerts for the residents of the county at Christmas time and in the spring. All proceeds from the concerts have been used to send students from Carroll County to summer band camps.

Many of the orchestra’s adult musicians have not had an opportunity to play since high school or college and are enjoying the opportunity to bring back memories and be creative again.

If an adult has not played for a while, no fear, there are 14 rehearsals to get in shape for that first concert.

The orchestra has several band directors in its ensemble and students from Alpena, Berryville, Eureka Springs and Green Forest all participate.

Rehearsals will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Mondays, beginning Sept. 23, in the Berryville High School Band Room.

The orchestra’s conductor is Jim Swiggart. He can be reached at jhswiggart@gmail.com or 479-981-2659
