Berryville School Board votes to renew property, vehicle insurance

It may be summer, but Berryville School Board is taking care of business.

On Monday night, the board voted to renew the property and vehicle insurance. In other new business, the board approved a student transfer request for the 2019-20 school year and renewed the curriculum programs for the 2019-20 school year.

The board heard from Doug Blevins, who said the band is requesting the Band Boosters to operate the concession stands during the volleyball and basketball season for the 2019-20 school year. The board unanimously voted to approve the fundraiser request.

In other business, the board accepted the resignation of cafeteria employee Linda Johnson and agreed to hire Megan Walker for the cafeteria. Travis Gregory moved to accept Kelly George, Maria Aguinaga, Martha Bell, Stephanie Fletcher, Holly Birchefield, Summer Byrd and Rine Anjerok as cafe substitutes, and the board unanimously agreed to do so.

During the certified personnel portion of the meeting, the board voted to accept the resignations of intermediate counselor Jan Jackson, head softball coach, assistant football coach and teacher Josh Hatfield and middle school teacher Cheryl Howard. The board voted to hire Cassie Statts as the new intermediate counselor.

The board’s next regular meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 26, in the Intermediate Cafetorium.
