Our sweet mother, wife, sister, aunt, and friend, Mable Kay (Griffith) Allen went to be with the Lord on May 5, 2019 with her children at her side. While our hearts are heavy with sadness we are rejoicing to know she is not longer in pain and will spend an eternity with her Lord and loved ones.
Kay was born January 21, 1944 in Osage, Arkansas, to Sam and Ella Griffith, then moved to California with her family and completed school there and started a family of her own with her husband, Gerald Allen. They had two children Tim Griffith and Julia Allen Carter. Eventually she would return with her family to Arkansas and make their home in Green Forest. She worked at many things from owning her own restaurants, managing the deli at Bob's Market and finally retiring from being a custodian at the elementary school in Green Forest.
In 2016 Kay and Gerald moved to Park Rapids,MN, after learning about Kay's cancer diagnosis so her daughter could help manage her healthcare. She always wanted to go back to Arkansas. She spent her best days during that time in Minnesota with her grandkids watching them fish and play.
Kay loved her tightknit family and missed them terribly when she moved. She is survived by her sisters Sue Bacon, Joyce Hall (Donald), Betty Frazier (Bill) and her brother Ronnie Griffith(Judy) many beloved nieces and nephews she loved dearly. She is also survived by her husband Gerald Allen and their children Tim Griffith and Julia (Allen) Carter (Jonathan) and 7 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Ella Griffith and her brother, Tony Griffith.
Kay's family would like to invite her family and friends to a memorial service on Saturday, July 27th, at Trinity Free Will Baptist Church, 601 S Thorne Ave, Green Forest, for a time of remembering and honoring a life well lived. Service time will be 11 a.m.
